Cane Syrup Mill . The Museum has hosted a traditional cane syrup making demonstrations, making syrup the old fashioned way. Using a technique that has been practiced for several hundred years, volunteers grind sugar cane into juice using a mule or tractor powered mill and then boil the juice into cane syrup.

TIFTON — From the mule-powered sugar cane mill to the smell of syrup cooking, visitors will become immersed in the days of old in South Georgia on Nov. 3 at the annual cane grinding and syrup making at the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village.

"This is the mill that we use now, made in 1925 and sold by Malone Hardware," said Joe Todd, a fifth-generation syrup-maker. A conveyor belt feeds stalks of sugar cane into the mill.
