Jun 24, 2016· Phosphate rock (PR) is an important mineral resource with numerous uses and applications in agriculture and the environment. PR is used in the manufacture of detergents, animal feed, and phosphate (PO 4 3–) fertilizers.Leaching or runoff losses from PR products like PO 4 3– fertilizers, animal feeds, and detergents could cause eutrophication of surface waters enriched in PO 4 3– by .

Mineral Commodity Summaries Published on an annual basis, this report is the earliest Government publication to furnish estimates covering nonfuel mineral industry data. Data sheets contain information on the domestic industry structure, Government programs, tariffs, and 5-year salient statistics for over 90 individual minerals and materials.

IntroductionThis report is a revised model for a specific type of cobalt-copper-gold (Co-Cu-Au) deposit that will be evaluated in the next U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) assessment of undiscovered mineral resources in the United States (see Ferrero and others, 2012). Emphasis is on providing an up-to-date deposit model that includes both geologic...

Phosphate rock is a general term referring to rock with high concentrations of phosphate minerals, most commonly those of the apatite family with the general formula Ca 5 (PO 4 CO 3) 3 (F,OH,Cl). Ninety percent of phosphate mined is used to produce chemical fertilisers.

What is Monazite? Monazite is a rare phosphate mineral with a chemical composition of (Ce,La,Nd,Th)(PO 4,SiO 4).It usually occurs in small isolated grains, as an accessory mineral in igneous and metamorphic rocks such as granite, pegmatite, schist, and gneiss. These grains are resistant to weathering and become concentrated in soils and sediments downslope from the host rock.

Listed below are links to chapters from the Minerals Yearbook (Volume I.-- Metals and Minerals). These annual reviews contain statistical data and information on approximately 90 commodities.

Phosphate rock minerals are the only significant global resources of phosphorus. The United States is the world's leading producer and consumer of phosphate rock, which is used to manufacture phosphate fertilizers and industrial products. Phosphate minerals contain the tetrahedrally coordinated phosphate (PO 4 3−) anion along sometimes with arsenate (AsO 4 3−) and vanadate (VO 4 3−) substitutions. Chlorine (Cl −), fluorine (F −), and hydroxide (OH −) anions that also fit into the crystal structure.. The phosphate class of minerals is a large and diverse group, however, only a few species are relatively common.

As a mineral resource, "phosphate rock" is defined as unprocessed ore and processed concentrates that contain some form of apatite, a group of calcium phosphate minerals that is the primary source for phosphorus in phosphate fertilizers, which are vital to agriculture.

U.S. Geological Survey, Mineral Commodity Summaries, January 2020 PHOSPHATE ROCK A Russian company restarted production of phosphate rock in Syria in 2018. The mine had been closed since late 2015 because of the conflicts in the region. The Russian company signed a 50-year operating agreement with the Government of Syria to operate the mine.
